On the record: University of Akron womens golf team third after two rounds at Bradley Spring Break Invitational

Staff Journal Star FARMERS BRANCH, Texas — The Bradley womens golf team was in 11th place after the opening day of its 16-team Bradley Spring Invitational.

The Braves had rounds of 318 and 319 for a 637 team total. They trail Cincinnati and Houston Baptist, co-leaders after two rounds, by 26 strokes.

Francesca Saban led Bradley with rounds of 82-75 for an 11-over 157. Saban was tied for 32nd. Ally Scaccia shot 79-79 and was tied for 37th, Taylor Ledwein shot 78-82 and was tied for 44th and Gracie Henderson was tied for 65th (79-86).

Chloe Hortons second-round 83 was counted in the team score for BU. Hortons tied for 73rd at 168.

Brooke Thompson (78-77, T-15) and Maddie Hawkins (82-83, T-65) are competing as individuals for the Braves.

Jacinta Pakunas of Akron shot 76-71 for a two-round total of 1-over 147 and a one-stroke lead.

Missouri Valley Conference team in the field are Illinois State (fifth), Missouri State (10th) and Drake (14th). Northern Illinois is in third.
