Cuyahoga Falls men robbed at gunpoint meeting online buyer
AKRON, OH (WOIO) – Two Cuyahoga Falls men were robbed at gunpoint in the area of Sylvan and Palmetto Avenues Thursday evening meeting a potential buyer for a cell phone.

The suspects forced them to lay on the ground and one victim was pistol whipped while they were robbed of the cell phone and car keys.

The car was spotted several minutes later and the driver led police on a short chase before crashing at Brown Street and Cypress Avenue.

A 17-year-old Cleveland boy and a 16-year-old Akron boy are now facing criminal charges and are at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.

A 17-year-old from Cleveland and a 16-year-old from Akron face a slew of charges after a reported robbery late Thursday in East Akron.

The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Sylvan and Palmetto avenues, according to a police report.

Police said two men from Cuyahoga Falls drove to the area intending to sell mobile phones they listed on the “Let go” mobile app.

When the sellers got out of the car to meet the buyers, they were approached by three males carrying handguns who told the sellers to lay on the ground. Police said a gun-toter pistol-whipped a Cuyahoga Falls man while the other two searched their pockets.

Police spied the stolen Pontiac a few minutes later and, after a brief chase, the car crashed at the intersection of Brown Street and Cypress Avenue.

The suspects ran, but police said they apprehended two teens, along with a loaded handgun left inside the car.
