Motorcyclist hits SUV Saturday evening
Motorcycle Crash Sends One to Hospital with Life-Threatening Injuries
The Amarillo Police Department said speed was a factor Saturday evening when a motorcyle crashed into an SUV.

At 7:26 p.m. APD officers responded to accident at Bell Street and Puckett Drive. The APD’s traffic investigation squad reported that Gary Wayne Price, 55, was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on Bell Street on his 1985 Honda motorcycle when he attempted to pass an SUV stopped in the left turn lane on Bell.

Price went into oncoming traffic during the attempt and struck the waiting 2010 Ford SUV. Price was not wearing a helmet and he was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

AMARILLO – The Amarillo Police Department reports one person was killed in a motorcycle crash on the 800 block of northwest 24th Avenue. 

Officers on scene said Thomas King, Jr., 49, was on his 2004 Suzuki motorcycle heading eastbound on NW 24th at a high rate of speed. 

The driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. APD reports the driver was not wearing his helmet

King hit a 2007 Saturn 4 door, lost control of the bike and hit a retaining wall. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The incident is being investigated by the Traffic investigation squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
