Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek revealed new details about the upcoming Ant-Man ride and announced new rides focusing on the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
With work underway on Disney’s Hotel New York — The Art of Marvel at Disneyland Paris, Chapek revealed that the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be renovated to feature Iron Man and the Avengers. It’s described as “a high-speed, hyper-kinetic adventure,” but it’s unclear at this point if they’ll scrap the popular attraction completely or rebrand it with some modifications.
Even More Disney Magic Coming to JapanChapek shared that starting next year, Adventures by Disney will take guests to the beautiful and storied country of Japan. Guests are also excited about the new experiences coming to Tokyo Disney Resort as part of the biggest expansion since the opening of Tokyo DisneySea. The first-ever attraction inspired by “Big Hero 6” is coming to Tomorrowland at Tokyo Disneyland, where guests will ride around with Baymax. There will also be an entirely new area in Fantasyland themed to “Beauty and the Beast,” with an attraction set to the award-winning music guests know and love. The Fantasyland expansion will also include the first full-scale, live entertainment theatre at Tokyo Disneyland, and Toontown will see a new design studio where guests can meet the one-and-only Minnie Mouse. At Tokyo DisneySea, guests will soon be able to experience a version of Soarin’, one of the most popular attractions across all Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
After announcing the Ant-Man ride at Hong Kong Disneyland last year, fans learned more about the new ride with some exciting details. The Wasp will take top billing with her size-shrinking partner, much like in the new movie, and the two will go up against classic Marvel villain Arnim Zola and a swarm of Hydra bots.
Disney Parks have had a tiered pricing system for the last couple of years and so the price of a day in the park changes depending on the expected crowd size. “Value” days, in which the park is already expected to be less crowded, are the cheapest and have seen the smallest increase, only $2 at the Walt Disney World parks, and no increase at all at Disneyland, while “peak” days at the Magic Kingdom will now be $129 and $122 at the other Walt Disney World parks. Disneyland saw the largest single increase with a “peak” ticket to either of its Anaheim parks increasing $11 to $135. These prices are for single park visits only, adding the “Park Hopper” option, allowing guests to visit multiple parks on the same day, adds a premium on top of that.
The Ant-Man and the Wasp ride will join the Iron Man Experience, which is already the most popular attraction and Hong Kong Disneyland, and a brand new Marvel-themed area is already underway at the park.
One of the most exciting announcements brings yet another Marvel ride stateside, as Walt Disney World will add another Guardians of the Galaxy-themed ride.
The ride will bring Star-Lord and his space-faring allies to the Epcot park and is described as a “one-of-a-kind family attraction will feature a brand-new, innovative ride system – and will be one of the longest enclosed roller coasters in the world.”
Little else was revealed about the Guardians-themed attraction, but it sounds like the Disney Imagineers are very ambitious with their plans.
New Details Released On Star Wars Hotel – How It Connects To Galaxy’s Edge In Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Fans have been excited at the prospect of more Marvel additions to Disney Parks, though Star Wars is getting the focus at this point as they expand both U.S. parks with the Galaxy’s Edge areas. While there have been discussions of a similar Marvel-branded area, it seems like fans will have to wait a bit longer.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout is now open at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World theme parks.
Disney hikes admission prices for Florida, California theme parks
Disney has revealed more details about its theme-park projects around the globe, including more hints about a handful of under-construction attractions at Walt Disney World.
The announcements were part of a presentation by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek at the D23 Expo Japan on Monday. Some built upon news first revealed at the D23 Expo in California in July, the night that many WDW additions were announced, including a “Star Wars”-themed hotel.
The company now says that hotel will be “seamlessly connected” to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction that is set to open next year at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The resort is designed to be a multiday adventure, with each room facing “space” and with guests being “active citizens” of the galaxy, down to their attire
A broad opening date of “2019” was shared for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, a ride that will operate in the former Great Movie Ride at Hollywood Studios. Disney now touts a catchy theme song for the attraction and a new cartoon short with the characters getting ready for a picnic.

“We are hard at work creating even more ways to experience Disney magic at our parks and resorts around the world,” Chapek said. “And with our incredible library of beloved stories and characters, we know exciting adventures and magical memories are in store for all our guests.”
