If this does end up happening, somebody has to get off the roster to make space for AA coming back. With Kaski, Biega, Svechnikov, and Kuffner all looking like theyre not part of the regular lineup based on the diggers reporting on line rushes, take your pick. I would suppose Kuffner just because hes a forward, but Ive been wrong before. Svechnikov also makes sense as he would be the offensive option in the event the AA batteries werent charged.

A mistake by Tyler Bertuzzi led to the Ducks tying goal by Rickard Rakell at 4:52 of the third. Bertuzzi overhandled the puck just inside the blue line when he had a chance to clear the zone. It resulted in a turnover and the Ducks quickly capitalized.

As of right now we dont have him in the lineup, but the mere possibility of Biega taking Andreas Liljas old number against the Ducks gives me the ol orange-juice-and-toothpaste taste in my mouth.

Dylan Larkin appeared to score at 8:06 of the third period to snap a 1-1 tie. The Ducks challenged off-side. The video review showed Anthony Mantha entered the zone just before the puck. The goal was disallowed.

Well, Duck. Anaheim Gives Detroit Its First Loss 3-1.

The big question is whether well have SuperMantha versus the Ducks own man of Steel tonight. Were currently showing he wont be in as hes been injured, but well see!

Tyler Bertuzzi – Dylan Larkin – Anthony ManthaTaro Hirose – Andreas Athanasiou – Luke GlendeningValtteri Filppula – Christoffer Ehn – Adam ErneDarren Helm – Jacob de la Rose – Justin Abdelkader

Nick Ritchie – Ryan Getzlaf – Ondrej KaseRickard Rakell – Isac Lundestrom – Jakob SilfverbergMax Jones – Adam Henrique – Troy TerryNicolas Deslauriers – Derek Grant – Carter Rowney

Middle six domination – With the aforementioned Wings team being thin on their lower lines (theyre really quite terrible), the Ducks have an opportunity to dominate the game with their middle lines. They have plenty of proven talent in the likes of Rickard Rakell, Jakob Silfverberg and Adam Henrique, along with rising young impact players like Troy Terry and Max Jones. I expect them to play fast and generate more than a few strong breakouts.

Ducks use late third-period rally to defeat Red Wings

The whole depth thing is probably going to be in 90% of these posts, but its worth bringing up until the Red Wings start showing the guys can match well from the bottom up. Anaheim is a team with skill smattered throughout their lineup thats largely going to be expected to make a few… eh… not-household-names better.

Limiting the Top Line – Detroits top line of has been dynamite to start the season. (Tyler Bertuzzi, Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha). Theyve generated eight of the nine goals scored for the Wings in their first two games and will continue to if kept unchecked. Detroits talent thins out fast, so limiting the top lines opportunities will be a huge driving factor in the outcome of the game.

Ducks @ Red Wings PREVIEW: Away We Go

When youve got the hot hand like Big Tony, you keep dishing it to him and enjoy him serving up his spicy meatballs.

Youll notice opposing PK units putting a lot more pressure on the puck when our second unit is on the ice. With less skill on that line, the defense can get a bit more aggressive. Quick puck movement to open areas is tough to do against pressure, but if that 2nd unit can figure it out, theyre going to get some real good looks at the net.
