ICE protesters, supporters rally in Aurora - The Denver Channel
Protesters plan to bring righteous rage to warden of Auroras ICE concentration camp
“This camp is notorious for numerous outbreaks and quarantines, coverups, medical neglect, torture via solitary confinement (up to nine months) of trans, gay, and mentally ill captives, and was one of four camps nationwide that was recently reprimanded by *Trumps own Department of Homeland Security* for human rights abuses,” the Abolish ICE Denver group said.

They are planning to protest outside Johnny Choates home, who the group describes as “cruel.” The group has encouraged people to bring a sign, poster, musical instrument, and “all your righteous rage” so Choates neighbors know what he does for a living. Abolish ICE Denver added they intend to have peaceful rally.

“Tonight we breathe a sigh of relief that our employee’s family and his neighbors are safe and their properties remain intact,” a GEO Group spokesperson said in a statement to a local Denver news outlet. “We continue to believe that these activists seeking open borders or other changes to our immigration laws should direct their thoughts and ideas to our elected leaders in their constituent offices.”

“The planned protest outside Warden Choates home by extreme anti-ICE protesters goes beyond the pale. Groups like Abolish ICE have demonstrated they have little regard for the rule of law, and the threatening nature of this protest should be taken very seriously,” Colorado GOP Chairman Ken Buck said in a statement.

There were dozens of protesters, estimated to be over 100, who descended upon Choate’s neighborhood. Their demonstration also drew around 50 counter-protesters who voiced support for Choate. Aurora police arrived to maintain security and usher the protesters away from the area. Three individuals were ultimately arrested, according to a statement from the Aurora Police Department.

“It should not be difficult for elected officials from either party to speak out against this blatant attempt to terrorize Mr. Choate, his family, and his neighbors,” he added.

In an editorial published last week, The Aurora Sentinel criticized the protest as a “thinly veiled act of extortion and terrorism,” adding, “Its an unnerving and repugnant act that borders on violence. Its a scheme that clear-headed members of these and other anti-ICE or anti-GEO groups should work feverishly to stop.”

“Open carrying of firearms is prohibited inside the specified protest area pursuant to AMC 94-154, Colorado Revised Statute 29-11.7-104. Individuals will not be allowed into the area openly carrying firearms. Violation of this rule will be grounds to deny access or removal from the protest area, and refusal to leave will be a violation of  AMC 94-71, Trespass.”

The American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado has said they do not support the protest outside Choates home.

Anti-ICE protest underway, marching from Denver park to Aurora facility

In one case, an organizer of the protest blamed “global climate change” for mass illegal immigration to the United States. Other footage posted online shows protesters demanding ICE agents quit their jobs.

The Aurora Sentinel reports that two immigrant-rights activist groups Denver Communists and Abolish ICE Denver began protesting at a park Thursday before making their way to the home of facility warden Johnny Choate.

But early in the day, ICE supporters far outnumbered those opposed to the federal agencys detention of immigrants. ICE supporters began to gather to the north of barricades at 10 am. By 11 a.m. about 100 people had gathered around a small stage to hear comments from conservative speakers, including Michelle Malkin.

3 Arrested At ICE Protest Outside GEO Officials Home In Aurora

The Abolish ICE organizations had been permitted for weeks to organize the protest outside Choate’s home via Facebook, as Breitbart News noted. In one instance, members of the Denver Communist group threatened to set the Aurora ICE facility on fire.

He said he was there to support ICE and support the laws we have and support the people who follow the laws. Immigrants entering the country through established legal processes are being left behind, Phipps said. Those are the good people who we like to welcome to the country, he said.

Abolish ICE protesters have increasingly targeted ICE agents and the employees of the GEO Group company, which aids the federal agency with detention space for border crossers and illegal aliens.

Most recently, the day before an ICE facility was shot at by gunmen in Texas, Florida, Abolish ICE protesters threatened GEO Group employees, shouting, “We know where all your children live,” and, “We know where you sleep at night,” as Breitbart News reported.
