The rest of the field for the Baton Rouge Regional, as well as the full field of 64 for the NCAA tournament, will be announced Monday at 11 a.m. during the NCAA baseball tournament selection show.
This marks the 26th time in program history LSU will host a regional, more than any other program. Also, this is the seventh time in the past eight seasons the road to the College World Series goes through the Box.
The Red Raiders (39-17) are also expected to get confirmation Monday of being a top eight national seed which means if Texas Tech were to advance past the regional tournament it would host a three-game Super Regional series with the winner advancing to the College World Series.
LSU to host NCAA Regional next weekend at the Box
This weekend will mark the fourth consecutive season Texas Tech will host a regional and seventh time overall (1996-97, 99, 2016-19). In fact, Tech is the only team in the country to host a regional each of the past four years. The Red Raiders won their third Big 12 regular season title in the past four seasons and are looking for its fourth trip to Omaha in the past six years after making the trek in 2014, 2016 and last season.
