Teams in Baton Rouge Regional to be announced during NCAA selection show - WAFB
16 regional hosts selected for 2019 DI baseball tournament
INDIANAPOLIS (WAFB) – LSU will remain home for the NCAA Regional round, as Baton Rouge has been named a host site.

The rest of the field for the Baton Rouge Regional, as well as the full field of 64 for the NCAA tournament, will be announced Monday at 11 a.m. during the NCAA baseball tournament selection show.

This marks the 26th time in program history LSU will host a regional, more than any other program. Also, this is the seventh time in the past eight seasons the road to the College World Series goes through the Box.

The Red Raiders (39-17) are also expected to get confirmation Monday of being a top eight national seed which means if Texas Tech were to advance past the regional tournament it would host a three-game Super Regional series with the winner advancing to the College World Series. 

BATON ROUGE- After a strong showing at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, LSUs grit and fight has officially paid off. The NCAA announced Sunday night LSU was one of 16 host sites for next weekends NCAA Tournament.

LSU to host NCAA Regional next weekend at the Box

This weekend will mark the fourth consecutive season Texas Tech will host a regional and seventh time overall (1996-97, 99, 2016-19). In fact, Tech is the only team in the country to host a regional each of the past four years. The Red Raiders won their third Big 12 regular season title in the past four seasons and are looking for its fourth trip to Omaha in the past six years after making the trek in 2014, 2016 and last season. 

LSU is not expected to receive a top-8 national seed. Monday morning The NCAA selection show will reveal the field-of-64 at 11 a.m. CT on ESPNU.

Texas Tech won three games in the Big 12 tournament last week before losing to West Virginia in the semifinals. Fellow Big 12 programs West Virginia (37-20) and Oklahoma State (35-18), who claimed the Big 12 tournament championship Sunday, were also announced as regional hosts. The other 13 regional hosts are Arkansas, East Carolina, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA and Vanderbilt.

Other teams who have already punched their tickets to the NCAA tournament as conference tournament winners include Stony Brook, Cincinnati, Liberty, Fordham, Creighton, Campbell, Ohio State, UC Santa Barbara, UNCW, Southern Miss, UIC, Harvard, Quinnipiac, Central Michigan, Florida A&M, Indiana State, Fresno State, Central Connecticut, Jacksonville State, Army, Mercer, McNeese, Southern, Omaha, Coastal Carolina, Loyola Marymount and Sacramento State.
