Cape Coral residents showed up in a big way with their fellow Lee County voters for a big Election on Tuesday.  One of those changes: Cape residents voted Tuesday to finance a $60 million, 15-year bond to add more parks and recreation amenities in the city.  What does that mean now? Cape reporter Sarah Jarvis explains the latest.

“These are not tiny houses,” Cape Coral Housing Coordinator Amy Yearsley said. “This is a concept. This is not going on platted Cape Coral lots; this is a well-thought-out alternative to your typical Cape Coral subdivision.”  Check out the new innovation in smaller living thats marking an arrival in Cape Coral.

With Veterans Day coming up on Sunday Nov. 11, heres a look at ways to honor veterans in Cape Coral, whether having fun, paying a tribute or raising money for like-minded charities in the coming weeks.

Where would we be today without our friends?  They raise us up, help us when were feeling down, and share amazing experiences with us. Thats the vision behind Best Buddies, and the Cape Coral schools partnering with them to build those relationships for Cape Coral students.

The News-Press and Naples Daily News, along with our partners at Florida Gulf Coast University and WGCU, are proud to present “Free Speech. Free Press. 2018 First Amendment Festival” on Nov. 13.

Our event, open to the public, will educate, enlighten and engage all participants through multimedia presentations, guest speakers, a workshop and a moderated panel of journalists. It will be capped off with a keynote address by National Public Radio (NPR) national political correspondent and Fox News Channel contributor Mara Liasson.
