An investigation revealed that Danajae Barton, 16, his brother De'Andre Barton, 15, and Vincent Smith, 14, were responsible for several car burglaries, including one on SW 31st Street which was reported by a witness.
In that report, Cape Coral police said a man called them during the early morning hours of Nov. 24 and said that several barking dogs woke him up. When he went to check what was going on, he said he found the teens searching through his car.
Later that morning, officers found Danajae Barton, De'Andre Barton and Smith walking in the 300 block of SW 30th Terrace.
Officers arrested Smith immediately. Danajae and De'Andre tried to run but were quickly found and arrested trying to hide in the backyard of a nearby home.
Police found a Glock handgun and a black glove in the area where the teens had been walking on SW 30th Terrace.
Danajae Barton, De'Andre Barton and Smith are each facing five counts of vehicle burglary, three counts of petit theft, and grand theft of a firearm.
