Two men killed in self-defense shooting in Hixson – WRCB-TV

Chattanooga police say a man was acting in self-defense when he shot two people to death Saturday night in Hixson.

CPD spokesperson Trevor Tomas says 27-year-old Kirtus Thompson and 57-year-old Douglas Patterson were both shot during the incident.

Another two people were injured in the second shooting that took place 15 minutes later in the Northgate Crossing Apartment complex located at 1664 Greendale Way. They are in stable condition at this time, Tomas said.

The shooter was also seriously injured and taken to a local hospital. The shooter's condition is unknown.

The first shooting took place at 10 p.m. in the 6700 block of Ardis Lane. One person died as a result, and the second person is in critical condition, police spokesman Trevor Tomas said.

Tomas says the shooter has not been charged at this time because it appears he was defending himself.

Officials say 27-year-old Kirtus Thompson died on the scene and 57-year-old Douglas Patterson was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
