Stabbing suspect in custody after hours-long barricade
CHULA VISTA (KUSI) – A man who allegedly stabbed another man in the head and barricaded himself inside a residence in the Otay Ranch area for several hours was taken into custody Tuesday, police said.

The suspect stabbed a man in the head shortly before 8:15 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Avenida de la Cruz in San Ysidro, San Diego police Officer Sarah Foster said.

A man who attempted to break up a fight between a man and a woman was stabbed in the head by the suspect, Foster said.

The victim was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Foster said.

When police responded to the stabbing scene, the suspect drove away in a black car and struck at least one parked car as he fled, Foster said.

Officers followed the car to an apartment in the 2000 block of Cilantro Way, located off Eastlake Parkway, where the suspect barricaded himself inside an apartment with another person inside, Foster said.

Officers tried to call the man out of the apartment via a loudspeaker and got no response. A SWAT team was sent to the location, Foster said.

A man suspected in a San Ysidro stabbing was taken into custody, along with a friend, following a lengthy standoff at a Chula Vista condo complex.
