Crash at Coliseum and Sherman made worse by power outage
Reports as of 8:45pm Wednesday show an outage primarily affecting the northwest quadrant of the city. Traffic lights are reported out at some intersections.
Tracy Warner of Indiana Michigan Power said a downed power line near an electrical substation on East State Blvd. caused the outage. Warner expected power to be restored by 11:45pm if the repair proceeds normally.
Fire officials tell us the explosion happened sometime in the middle of the night when a large water tank inside the building ruptured. This took out the center portion of the roof and the garage door, pushing debris to the next-door business.
