Man charged in Garland County killing

A man has been arrested in connection with a killing Sunday in Garland County, the sheriffs office reported.

The agency said in a news release that Derek Layne Clark, 35, had been charged with first-degree murder. Clark is accused of killing Donald Easley, 60.

Deputies found Easley unresponsive after being called about 5:10 a.m. to a possible stabbing at 110 Bayou Point off Albert Pike Road in Hot Springs, according to the release. He was pronounced dead soon afterward.

On Sunday 11/04/2018 at approximately 0510 hours Garland County Deputies were dispatched to a possible deceased body at 110 Bayou Pt. 

Clark of Hot Springs National Park was arrested Tuesday. He was being held in the Garland County jail.

In announcing the arrest in a Wednesday news release, the Garland County Sheriff’s Office also officially identified the victim as Donald Easley, 60.

On Tuesday, investigators developed a person of interest in the case and took Derek Clark, 35, of Hot Springs into custody.

The Garland County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) says deputies were called to the 100 block of Bayou Point shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday.
