“(Coreau’s) elevated his game and so has Tommy,” Nelson said. “It’s funny how it works. Everybody plays a little better and all of a sudden, those losses turn to wins. That’s what is happening and it starts with Jared and Tommy.”
Coreau had to adapt this season. At the end of training camp, the Red Wings put him on waivers, he wasn’t claimed and his hopes of reaching the NHL went back on hold as he rejoined the Griffins.

In nine games since, Coreau has allowed no more than three goals as the Griffins (19-16-1-4) have points in 10 of 11 to climb back into the Central Division race.
