Grand Rapids Police Department Lt. Pat Merrill said police found a womans body around 8 a.m. Sunday, March 11, near the 500 block of Logan Street SE.
EMS personnel attempted to resuscitate the woman, but were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Grand Rapids Police Department press release.
Police said the woman was not a resident of the area and may not have had a permanent address.
Merrill said the situation was suspicious, but police are waiting on the medical examiner to determine the cause of death and whether the death itself is suspicious.
Merrill said the name of the woman would not be released until family has been notified.
Police are calling the death of a woman “suspicious” after her body was found in an alley near a home in Grand Rapids.
Authorities were called to a home on Logan Street SE, not far from College Avenue. A womans body was found outside in the alley around 8 a.m.
Resuscitation efforts by EMS personnel were unsuccessful. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
GRPD said that the victim was not a resident of the area and may not have had a permanent address.
Her identity has not yet been confirmed and police are not calling her death a homicide.
No other information about the woman will be released until her relatives can be reached.
