NBA Free Agency Rumors: Kyrie Irving Narrows Down Options To Nets And Lakers - Fadeaway World
NBA Rumors: Celtics Exploring Trades To Support Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown
Some Boston Celtics fans may be happy to hear that Kyrie Irving is breaking the promise that he made before the start of the season. It appears that the point guard will not be returning to the C’s.

“The latest that I’ve heard is that it’s between Brooklyn and the Lakers,” Bucher said… Now, everything that I’ve heard, I’d still expect that Kyrie is going to Brooklyn — that’s the odds-on favorite. … And if we’re going to continue our real estate (game), he just bought a place in South Orange (New Jersey).”

The Nike Kyrie Low 2 Is Available Now

Well, the Kyrie Irving trade was definitely a failure. The Celtics will probably be better without Irving. This is one of the first trades in a while that has backfired on Danny Ainge.

Irving’s time in Boston will be looked at with extreme scrutiny. It looked like he was going to be the face of the franchise for years to come. He is now just giving up on the team.

This was Irving’s chance to prove that he could win on his own. He finally got out of the shadow of LeBron James.

Kyrie proved that he can’t win on his own. Wherever he goes he will need someone else to be the No.1 guy if he wants to win a championship.

Jeff Goodman has never been shy in critiquing an athlete’s personality (see Rondo, Rajon, and Cousins, Boogie) but… he’s not completely wrong here. Kyrie’s an elite talent who’s also a cranky-pants.

The worst-case scenario for Boston Celtics fans would be if Irving decided to go to the Lakers. All of Boston would hate him.

My preference has always been for the Celtics to re-sign Irving and pair him with another established star player. Playing alongside someone on his level might help keep his attitude in check.

First off he would be going to the Celtics fiercest rival. No matter what the Lakers and Celtics will hate one another. This would instantly heat up the rivalry to an all-time high.

But surely, Kyrie will have the last laugh no matter what, as he will soon be signing a massive contract. Its just a question of where that may be. So, of course, the trip to MSG also brought out some of the Kyrie-to-the-Knicks truthers.

Then Irving would also be going back to his best buddy LeBron. He will return to him beaten and prove that James was the reason that Cleveland was able to win.

Irving was in attendance for a fight between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr. at The Garden. DAZN, the network streaming the fight, tweeted out a picture of Kyrie to confirm his appearance.

So goodbye Kyrie Irving. I wish I could say that it was fun having you in Boston, but it couldn’t have gone any worse.

This is somewhat reminiscent of the picture of John Wall that the Washington Wizards tweeted last July. The tweet was mocked so much that the Wizards ultimately had to take it down.

Embattled point guard Isaiah Thomas will likely be signing with his fourth team in two seasons this offseason, and based on his recent activity on Twitter, it looks like the Miami Heat are most definitely on his radar.

Per a report from Basketball Insiders Steve Kyler, the Boston Celtics are actively exploring trades and draft scenarios that will allow them to build around wings Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in light of their skepticism that theyll be able to re-sign point guard Kyrie Irving. Irving, who is set to become a free agent on June 30, has been strongly linked to the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers.

Thomas has had an incredibly difficult last two seasons, marred with injury and uncertainty. That difficult time began when he was traded by the Boston Celtics as part of the deal that sent Kyrie Irving to Boston.

As CelticsWire has noted before, Bostons best move could be pivoting their focus away from re-signing Irving and investing in a future that sees young players like Tatum and Brown becoming the centerpieces for the team.

On the former All-Star’s likes page on the platform, it just not one, not two, but three recent posts that he has liked regarding the Heat’s possible interest in him.

While there are usually games of smokes and mirrors being played in the offseason, causing many to view rumors with a grain of salt, theres plenty of evidence that Irving is no longer completely committed to the Celtics. In fact, Boston may no longer even be in the top-three of his preferred destinations this offseason, let alone the favorite to have Irving in uniform in 2019-20.

He was injured at the time of the trade, and at the end of the 2017-18 season, he finally opted to undergo hip surgery that he probably should have had the previous summer.

At this point is seems like Irving is ready to leave the Celtics whether Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant joins him or not. The latest reports paint the Nets and Lakers, two team able (and willing) to sign Irving without Durant as the favorites to sign Irving.

In his final season with the Celtics, Thomas averaged 28.9 points, 5.9 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game. It resulted him being named fifth in MVP voting.

NBA Rumors: Kyrie chase down to two teams?

Irvings reputation took a hit in 2018-19 despite him having his best career season and the 27-year-old seemed to lack joy for much of the season. Though Boston was seen as a championship-contender and indeed boasted one of the most talented rosters in the NBA, they were underachievers who fell victim to inexperience, inconsistency and internal competition.

Given all the hardships he has faced over the last two seasons, it’s easy to forget just how dominant he was while starring in Boston.

Your Morning Dump… Where now were told the Celtics maybe dont want The Brow – wait, what?

There should be no question of why Irving wants to leave, to be frank, which increases the likelihood that hell go.

That said, Brown and Tatum — who the Celtics selected with the third overall pick in back-to-back drafts — have shown that they can lead a team as close to the NBA Finals as Irving had, if not further. Irving was undoubtedly the most talented player on the team last season and made Boston a tougher team to beat.

However, Irving and Tatum were a 1-2 punch with a lot of jump shots and finesse in their game. A dynamic that could work well and has, for duos like Portlands Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum or Golden States Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, but one that didnt often benefit Boston last season.

The twists and turns of the Kyrie Irving saga simply will not stop until he signs his free-agent deal. The Boston Celtics star point guard is set to hit the open market and will have a handful of teams targeting him. And at the moment, there are a number of possibilities that he seems to be considering.

Too often did the Celtics opt to take a jumper, even ill-advised attempts, rather than taking the ball to the rim and challenging the interior of their opponents defense. As a result, when the going got tough, they couldnt get easy baskets or points and would only exacerbate their issues; like in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

These destinations surely make sense for Kyrie, but they are still just rumors. Keep in mind that the New York Knicks are trying to lure both Irving and Durant to New York City as well. They may even move the No. 3 pick in the draft to help create room to sign both, so they could be an option.

Furthermore, with Irvings streetball style of ball-handling, plenty of players were left ball-watching rather than moving off-ball and disrupting the defense; which isnt any fault of Irvings but a factor to note.

Brown, an aggressive and athletic swingman with a prototypical NBA body, is a player whose style bodes well for Boston moving forward.

Hes one of the lone Celtics who will attack the paint fearlessly, softening up the interior of the defense and improving the teams chances of drawing fouls throughout the game (per Basketball Reference, Boston ranked 29th in the league last season with 19.5 free-throw attempts per game). Further, though he isnt known for his ball-movement or court vision, hes not a high usage player like Irving and naturally allows the Celtics to play with a more balanced attack.

Lastly, assuming Irvings departure causes Boston to re-sign soon-to-be restricted free agent Terry Rozier, the Celtics perimeter defense will prove with Rozier manning the one.

Removing Irving from the starting lineup allows pieces to fit better around each other and increases their ability to dominate in every facet of the game except scoring in isolation. If the Celtics are skeptical theyll re-sign Irving, they shouldnt sweat it.
