Brooklyn Nets fans who are looking to get their hands on a Kyrie Irving jersey can do so just by going to one of the teams first games of the 2019-20 season.
The Nets announced Saturday they will hand out free replica Irving jerseys to the first 10,000 people to walk through the doors at Barclays Center for their game against the New York Knicks on Friday, Oct. 25:
That will mark the teams second contest of the season, as Brooklyn will begin its campaign by hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
This summer, Kyrie Irving elected to sign with the Nets on a four-year, $136 million contract, while the Knicks, who had targeted Irving, were left watching as Brooklyn assembled a team consisting of some free agent stars.
Irvings signing represented one of the NBAs biggest offseason moves. Adding Irving and two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant made the Nets one of the Associations most intriguing teams, though theyll likely have to wait until 2020-21 for Durant to return from a ruptured Achilles.
The Knicks, meanwhile, shifted their attention to more mid-tier free agents like Julius Randle, Elfrid Payton, Bobby Portis and Marcus Morris after failing to land any of the megastars on the open market.

The Nets had laid out the schedule of game promotions in a press release and a Tweet on Thursday. But no one picked up the irony that the Nets would be giving out KYRIE IRVING jerseys at a KNICKS game when every Knick fan believed hed be playing at MSG.
So, more than one pundit intimated that yes, indeed, the Nets (under new ownership and management no less!) were trolling their cross-river rivals. World-class trolling, one might say.

Irving, of course, needs no introduction to the rivalry. He grew up in New Jersey watching the Nets dominate the Knicks during the early 2000s.
