Jersey City firefighters battle three multi-alarm blazes in 10-hour span
A four-alarm blaze ripped through one Jersey City home and spread to two others Tuesday morning, the third fire city firefighters battled in a 10-hour span.

Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said that all residents affected by the fire that started at 63 Wegman Parkway at 5 a.m. Tuesday were safely evacuated by firefighters.

Earlier Tuesday, at 1 a.m., the fire department responded to a two-alarm high-rise fire on the 17th floor of 730 Newark Ave., which has been described as largest, private Section 8 site in the city. The building, which has 1,100 residents, underwent an $18.5 million renovation in 2018.

According to the fire chief, the flames started in one of the homes, then spread to the two neighboring homes.
