Officers acting on a tip Monday morning arrested Victor Lynn Parson, 29, after he was spotted walking along the street in an East Knoxville neighborhood, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Parson faces charges in connection with the shooting reported shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday on the 5000 block of Rowan Road that injured the woman and child. The names of the victims have not been released by police, and their conditions were not immediately available Monday.

Parson also is a suspect in homicide reported early Sunday in DeKalb County, Georgia, according to the Knoxville Police Department. Details on that case were not immediately available.

Police issued an alert shortly after the Rowan Road shooting, warning residents to be on the lookout for a silver Mercury Grand Marquis.

Officers soon spotted the vehicle on Cherry Street. The driver, believed to be Parson, sped away, striking a 13-year-old boy who was riding a scooter along Linden Avenue.

Parson abandoned the car in an alley off College Street and ran toward the Western Heights public housing complex.
