LINCOLN, Neb. — According to unofficial results, Lincoln voters passed mayoral term limits, meaning Mayor Chris Beutler wont be able to run for a fourth term.
It was a small margin for most of the night, with the unofficial final numbers putting the votes in favor of term limits at 53 percent of the vote, garnering about 5,700 more votes than those against the proposal.
After all precincts were reporting, Councilwoman Cyndi Lamm, a Republican who had announced her intentions to run for mayor, released the following statement:”The results of the term limit issue may affect who my opponent is, but does not affect Lincolns need for change or my resolve to bring change in how city government respects and responds to the often forgotten men and women who have worked and built this city with their hard earned tax dollars.
“I look forward to continuing my conversation with all of Lincoln about issues residents care about – roads, property tax relief, and restoring trust through true transparency.”
Mayor Beutler had said his fourth term wouldve been his last, had the term limits not passed and he been re-elected.
