Burglar enters Madison home with family inside, police say
MADISON (WKOW) — A man told police a stranger entered his house Saturday night and stole car and house keys while he and his family were home.

The man said he left his garage door open and the door into his Golden Maple Road house unlocked because he was expecting a visit from family that night, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

Then, the suspect got into a car and drove at the victim. The victim jumped onto the hood of the moving car, rolled off and hit his head on the pavement, knocking him out.

He heard the door to his garage open and the man called out a welcome, police said. When he didn’t get a response, the man looked and saw a stranger standing inside his house.

Police describe the stranger as a black male in his teens between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 with a slender build, short hair and wearing a black hoodie.

The man realized two sets of car and house keys were missing. One set, police said, belonged to the man, and the other to his wife who had been upstairs with their baby at the time of the burglary.

A neighbor’s surveillance system captured video of five teens roaming the neighborhood before one went up to the man’s home.
