NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KSNV) — One person is in custody after a man was apparently beaten to death early Friday morning in North Las Vegas, according to authorities.
Officers responded just after 2 a.m. to an area near Main Street and Owens Avenue and found a man dead at the scene, said Officer Eric Leavitt with North Las Vegas Police.

In a statement released Friday afternoon, Leavitt said officers found a 23-year-old man with critical injuries, and medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Officers learned the man and a suspect identified as Eddie Jackson, 38, got into a fight before the victim fell to the ground.
Jackson allegedly ran north on Main Street before officers were able to take him into custody. Leavitt said Friday morning Jackson was incoherent and had to be sedated before being taken to a hospital.
The reason for the fight is still unclear, but Leavitt said investigators believe the fight wasn't random and are looking into the relationship between the two men.
