Police said that a man was reported lying on the highway just south of Legacy Drive around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday.
The man, identified as 36-year-old John Curtis Shelby, appeared to have been hit by a vehicle as he walked along the shoulder, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Upon officer’s arrival, they found John Curtis Shelby, a 36-year old white male, who looked like he was hit by a vehicle. Officers believe Shelby was walking along the shoulder of the highway when he was hit. He was transported by Plano Fire Rescue to a local area hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Police say Shelby had a shaved head and full beard and was wearing a striped blue button-up shirt and brown pants. Anyone who may have witnessed him being hit is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 877-373-8477.
PLANO, TX — Police in Plano are looking for information regarding a Feb. 7 hit-and-run incident that left an injured pedestrian lying in the road. Officers responded to the call around 4:40 p.m. and found the 36-year-old victim lying in the roadway in the 6800 block of U.S. Highway 75, just south of Legacy Drive.
Police believe the victim, John Curtis Shelby, was walking on the shoulder when he was struck by a passing car. He was taken to a local hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
Shelby was wearing brown pants and a blue-striped button-down when he was struck. He had a shaved head and full beard.
Plano Police are still investigating a hit-and-run incident from Feb. 7.
Anyone who witnessed this hit-and-run is asked to call Plano Crime Stoppers at 877-373-8477. Tips that lead to an arrest and indictment will be rewarded with $5,000.
