Oppo announced the latest entry to its mid-range porfolio – meet the Oppo A9 (2020). And yes, we realize its still September 2019.

The A9 (2020) is built around a 6.5″ HD+ display that promises a screen-to-body ratio of 89%. The screen also has a cut-out up top for the 16MP selfie shooter featuring AI Beautification.

Around the back, you get a fingerprint scanner accompanied by four cameras – 48MP main, 8MP ultrawide, and two 2MP units. The cameras come with features like Ultra Night Mode 2.0 and Portrait Stylizers.

Theres also a Cinematic Video Style feature which Oppo says “can turn your personal videos into theatrical masterpieces using movie-like effects and professional-caliber color grading”.

The Oppo A9 (2020) is powered by a Snapdragon 665 SoC with 4GB or 8GB RAM. The smartphone runs Android Pie-based ColorOS 6.0.1 and has 128GB of storage. It also features a dedicated microSD card slot that allows storage expansion by up to 256GB.

The A9 (2020) comes in Space Purple and Marine Green colors and packs a 5,000 mAh battery which supports reverse charging so that you can use it to juice up other devices.

The A9 (2020) is currently listed on Oppo Pakistans website and will make its way to India on September 16.

Chinese smartphone maker OPPO unveiled the second generation Reno series flagship in Shanghai today. The handset made its global debut on August 28 in India first with three variants, the Reno 2, 2F and 2Z.

OPPOs strategic launch event comes one day before American technology giant Apples highly anticipated launch of its new iPhone 11 series on September 10 local time. Chinese phone makers are actively launching their devices in the latter half of this year in an attempt to secure a larger share of the market against global giants like Apple and Samsung.

The biggest highlight on Reno 2 undoubtedly goes to the addition of a fourth lens, strengthening the camera setup on the rear body of the phone to a quadruple camera configuration. Specifically, its rocking a 48-megapixel Sony IMX 586 large primary sensor, a telephoto lens, ultra-wide angle lens and a macro lens for taking pictures of subjects way up close.

The front camera is still housed within its shark-fin-like module that opens when the selfie camera function is launched. The pivoted elevator mechanism allows the phone to achieve a massive 6.55-inch full AMOLED display with an impressive 93% screen-to-body ratio for a more immersive and enjoyable screen for consumers to watch and stream video content.

Aside from the camera upgrades, the phone is also rocking a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 octa-core processor powering the various gears of this 8GB RAM and 256GB handset. Although this isnt the highest configuration on the market for performance, Reno 2 is still a budget-friendly powerhouse retailing at 2,999 yuan (~$420), making it a viable option for consumers who are looking for a robust alternative to premium flagships.

The phone also has an upgraded 4,000mAh battery and comes with the companys in-house developed VOOC flash charge 3.0, which according to OPPO, can fill up the empty can from 9% to 80% in roughly under 40 minutes. The blazing charging speed is one of the major features that many are attracted to, allowing consumers to worry less about charging phones overnight.

Reno 2 is available for preorders from September 10 and will go on sale across e-commerce platforms starting from September 20.

Honor launched the latest Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro, which are the newest budget camera phones of Honors X series, to target the mid-range phone market.
