RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash in South Richmond on Wednesday.

At 11:30 a.m., Richmond Police responded to the 5200 block of Hull Street after receiving reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV-style vehicle, according to a release from Richmond Police.

The motorcyclist, identified as Wayne A. Walters, Jr., was found in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. 

The driver of the SUV, only identified as a female by police, was unhurt in the crash. The driver stayed at the scene. 

Investigators at the scene determined that the driver of the SUV, moving east on Hull Street, had attempted to make a left turn across the westbound lanes of Hull Street.

The motorcyclist collided with the SUV as it was going west on Hull Street, according to Richmond Police. 

The driver's identity will not be released unless she is charged, according to Richmond Police.

When police arrived, they found Wayne Antonio Walters, Jr., lying in the westbound lanes of the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said the driver of an SUV was heading eastbound on Hull Street when she tried to make a left turn across the westbound lanes when Walters collided with the SUV.

Hull Street closed in both directions just west of the intersection with Warwick Road for a motorcycle fatality investigation.
