Multi-vehicle wreck shuts down Riverside Drive at College Street
Five people injured in construction site crash
According to police officials, the crash happened Friday at the intersection of College Street and Riverside Drive around 11:37 a.m.

A 31-year-old in a F-450 hit a patrol car and two work lifts – with two men in each – in a construction zone on Riverside Drive

Traffic was disrupted all over downtown as people detoured around the resulting traffic jam. Officials at the scene said the wreck is extensive and they had no estimate of how long the roads will be closed. They urged motorists to take other routes.

Five people were taken to the hospital. Two men transported by Lifeflight to Nashville, and three others taken by ambulance to Tennova Medical Center.

A Ford F-450 truck driven by a 31-year-old man was southbound on Riverside Drive passing through a work area and, for an unknown reason, did not maintain the work zone travel pattern, said Clarksville Police Department spokesman Jim Knoll
