University of Utah sends out alert after person of interest in stabbing seen on campus

Kidus Chane Yohannes, 31, is wanted for questioning in the death of Candace Rose Samples, 20. Samples and a second victim were stabbed next to a dumpster behind the Dollar Tree store at 477 N. 300 West shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Authorities were unable to locate either a suspect or a weapon at the time and said Yohannes should be considered armed and dangerous. He was seen on campus Wednesday morning around 11 a.m. at the Marriott Library, according to a campus safety alert, which was sent to students hours later out of an abundance of caution.
