2 shot, wounded in Highland pawn shop robbery

The shooting occurred about 11:40 a.m. in the 26000 block of Highland Avenue, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Two shot in pawnshop robbery

The two victims were hit inside the pawn shop — Tony’s Jewelry and Loan Pawn Shop in the 26000 block of Highland Avenue. Both have been taken to the hospital. Their conditions weren’t immediately known.

A woman who lives behind the pawn shop said customers had to be buzzed into the business and she said she was surprised anyone was able to get in to rob them.Video from the scene showed deputies and Highland Police officers at the scene gathering information.

According to County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Jodi Miller, deputies from the Highland Police station responded to a silent alarm activated at the pawnshop at about 11:30 a.m. Upon arrival two employees, a male and a female, were found inside suffering of gunshot wounds. They were transported to local hospitals but their condition is unknown.

It is believed the suspects gained entry by first entering the glass front door then climbing over the interior security cage.
