West End Company, Hamilton, The Inheritance Among 2018 Evening Standard Theatre Award Winners
A buzzy revival, a Broadway juggernaut, and a new, two-part drama each won big at the 2018 Evening Standard Theatre Awards, which took place November 18 at Londons Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

Director Marianne Elliott won for helming her reimagined production of the Stephen Sondheim and George Furth musical Company, which saw the central, male character of Bobby as the female Bobbie. Rosalie Craig won the award for Best Musical Performance for her start turn in said role.

Isan had some big news to celebrate last week. It was announced that she will be the 2019 Golden Globe Ambassador and she’ll be on stage at next year’s Golden Globes to assist handing out the awards.

The West End production was also up for Best Musical, though that category ultimately went to the U.K. premiere of Hamilton, which continued its awards streak after winning seven Olivier Awards earlier this year. Lin-Manuel Mirandas musical also earned Jamael Westman the Emerging Talent Award for his performance as the title Founding Father.

The 46-year-old actor and newly-appointed “Sexiest Man Alive” was joined at the event by his fiancee Sabrina Dhowre, his 16-year-old daughter Isan, and an unidentified young man.

Other big wins included Mathew Lopezs two-part The Inheritance—which was named Best Play, as well as the National Theatres Antony and Cleopatra stars Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo.
