The men were armed and wearing masks when they entered the front door of the house at the 2800 block of 27th Avenue N just before midnight, police said.
Randy Stanley Jr., 25, of St. Petersburg, was found in the middle of the road when police arrived, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg hospital for medical treatment and was reported to be in critical but stable condition.
He faces charges of home invasion robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Once he is released from the hospital he will be booked into the Pinellas County jail. He will be held there in lieu of $160,000 bail.
Police continue to search for his accomplice. No other details about the incident were revealed, including what kind of firearm the homeowner used.
Stanley has been arrested several times in Pinellas County on charges including grand theft auto, armed robbery, dealing in stolen property, aggravated fleeing and eluding and drug possession, records show.
