Investigators in hazardous materials suits could be seen going in and out of the woods early Tuesday afternoon. A woman who works nearby said the situation made her nervous.
“I work here and I’ve been here for over 21 years and I am here at night,” Deb Young told WBZ “I don’t know what to think of it, it kind of makes you very nervous. Like what is going on so close to where we are that we didn’t see anything or we missed it.”
Police scanner audio indicates firefighters were called to the area sometime in the morning. A dispatcher is heard telling police that the fire department went up there for a fire and a body was discovered, scanner audio shows.
Denis LaBaire lives nearby. “It’s scary, there is only three houses on my street… It doesn’t shock me because they just dump, a couple weeks ago two fiberglass boats, a bedroom set, it’s just crazy.”
Police said the death is being treated as suspicious. Identification of the body and cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner, they said.
Worcester police ask that anyone with information about the body send an anonymous text to 274637 TIPWPD or call (508) 799-8651.
