After a couple of rounds about Elizabeth Taylor and Ronald Reagan (to remind everyone of Bergen’s Beverly Hills lineage), the announcer read, “During Candace’s college years, she went on a date with a young, strapping Donald Trump.”

Home Again costar Reese Witherspoon, was first photographed wearing the garment on Sept. 6 during a visit to SiriusXM’s New York studios. The $360 sweater comes from designer Rachelle Hruska MacPherson’s label Lingua Franca, though $20 knockoffs have already hit the web.

After hearing the story, Cohen joked, “She does wear the sweater with some authority here.”

Bergen, 71, told host Andy Cohen and “Home Again” co-star Reese Witherspoon that she and a young Trump went on a single date in college.

Trump, of course, went on to marry three times. For her part, Bergen's other dates seem to have found better success: she was married for 15 years to the French filmmaker Louis Malle before his passing, and has spent the last 17 with husband Marshall Rose, a real estate magnate.

Bergen isn’t the only celebrity to have gone on a date with Donald Trump before he was married to Melania. Former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kim Richards also once when on a date with the future president, while British actress Emma Thompson famously turned down a date with the real estate mogul. “I was home very early. There was no physical contact whatsoever,” the longtime Hollywood star said.
