Braun Strowman shocked the WWE Universe on Monday Night Raw after winning the No. 1 contender match for the Tag Team Championship. As one would expect, The Monster Among Men did the unexpected by winning a tag team division match without a partner. He outlasted some of the best tag teams on Raw.
Sure, it brought us a little closer to booking a couple matches (Raw Womens Championship, Raw Tag Team Championship) and announced a new Mania contest (womens battle royal), but it really was a heatless episode. Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, Triple H & Stephanie McMahon and the Undertaker (the subject of John Cenas call-out) all were no-shows Monday night.
Braun Strowman Looks Forward to Having a Feud With Bray Wyatt, Talks WrestleMania Excitement
Braun Strowman will now face The Bar for the Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 34, as reported by Cageside Seats. As it turns out, The Bar was unhappy with the lack of competition on Raw and demanded that they should be transferred to SmackDown Live after WrestleMania. They were earlier in the day attacked by the tag team division of Raw.

So, General Manager Kurt Angle decided to set up a No. 1 contender match for the Tag Team titles. As the match was about to begin, Braun Strowman showed up in the ring and demanded that the referee ring the bell. The referee had no other option but to heed to Strowman’s demand and begin the match.
The other team competing for a spot at WrestleMania and a chance to compete for the Tag Team titles included The Revival, Titus Worldwide, The Miztourage, Heath Slater & Rhyno, and Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows. The other teams, although reluctant initially, did gather some courage to take on Strowman.
Even though Strowman was overpowered for a moment, he came back and outlasted everyone to win the match becoming the No. 1 contender for the Raw Tag Team Championship. While throwing the last man over the ring, Strowman screamed that he was going to WrestleMania. The commentary team was left discussing whether it was even legal for a single man to compete for the Tag Team title.
The source is claiming that WWE could have Elias team up with Strowman to challenge The Bar for the gold. Strowman and Elias have been butting heads for a while now, especially in the build-up to the Elimination Chamber. WWE does have a tendency to have odd pairings go for the gold, even Sheamus and Cesaro can be in that bracket.
Braun Strowman is capable of winning all by himself in a handicap match at WrestleMania 34. However, some rumors do indicate that Elias could be added as his partner in the match. Braun Strowman & Elias vs. Cesaro & Sheamus could result in a spectacular match, predicts Wrestling Inc. It remains to be seen what Kurt Angle will have to say about this development.
However, Dave Meltzer discussed the situation on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live as fans understandably had questions over plans for Strowman. Meltzer went on to suggest that Vince McMahon apparently still hasn’t decided whether Strowman will have a partner or whether he might make it a handicap match.
This storyline is perfect for WWE officials as it gives them an opportunity to keep Braun Strowman a part of WrestleMania 34, yet have an option to pull him out of this match if a need arises. It was earlier speculated that Braun Strowman was being kept as a reserve in case there is some serious evidence against Roman Reigns in the steroid controversy.
While its great that Strowman will presumably feature in his first main-card match at WrestleMania, the decision to put him in a match for the Raw Tag Team titles at The Show of Shows feels somewhat underwhelming considering the year he has had.
Braun Strowman Wins Tag Team Battle Royal and Confuses Everyone
If such a thing happened, WWE officials could simply remove Strowman from this match on legal grounds and put him in a match against Brock Lesnar. On the contrary, if things went smoothly, Braun Strowman would still give an epic performance in the handicap Tag Team match. WWE fans have a lot to look forward to after Monday Night Raw on March 12.

Reports throughout January and February suggested that the two would meet at WrestleMania 34, which would have been a good way to give Strowman his first singles title in WWE, but both men have now moved into different storylines.
On his powerslam finisher: “I started with a lifting arm triangle choke; its still in my repertoire of moves that I do, I just havent needed to use it lately. The powerslam is the end all for me — its one and done. If its not broke, dont break it. Along with my character in general, I think we were really hitting a home run with the character, where its at and where its developed into now. Everything that WWEs done and what Ive done with it, its just crazy. This whole things happened so fast. Its a flash in the pan, overnight to where Im at right now basically. Trying to take it all in is nuts, but like youve said Ive powerslammed everyone from my boss Triple H to Brock, Roman, you name it.”
On the anticipation for WrestleMania: “You know its kind of almost like a year round thing. WrestleMania, our whole year is built up to leading up with storylines and everything to WrestleMania; its the grandest stage of them all. Its WrestleMania. How else can you put it? Its where legends are born and people are etched in stone for the rest of eternity with what they do at WrestleMania. Im just chomping at the bit to get my moment. I dont exactly know whats going to happen this year, but I promise you the Monster Among Men will be at WrestleMania.”
On a possible feud with Bray Wyatt: “I usually travel with Bray Wyatt. Weve gone astray per se as far as being a team, but our friendship is going to go down forever. Bray is a very, very close friend of mine, and I look forward to one day possibly having a rivalry with him. Hes an unbelievable talent, hes one of the best guys we have as far as speaking and in-ring ability. Hes the total package and he taught me a lot coming up with my time with the Wyatt Family. Im sure one day it will come back full circle with the monster and his creator.”
On running into a fan at Disney World: “Probably the funniest one or craziest one for me was last year, I met my buddy and it was his sons third birthday at Disney. I literally flew in and got off the plane and went straight to Disney and went in and met him and walked around with him. Hes my buddy, but walking around with him, all of the sudden a mom – I literally thought she was going to attack me – when she saw me she freaked out. She was screaming Oh my God, Braun Strowman! I almost felt bad, it was funny because her daughter was so cute, dressed to the nines, full princess outfit and her moms losing her mind. The daughter is just standing there like you can tell the look on her face like Mommy, who is this guy? Why are you so crazy about this scary looking man? I want to meet Mickey! And she took her daughters little signature book to get my autograph on like a page where its supposed to be Mickey Mouse signing, and its Braun Strowman signing it.”
