Prominent doctor allegedly drugged, raped women; officials fear \many\ more victims
US surgeon and girlfriend suspected of multiple drug rapes
The Orange County District Attorneys office reported there could be potentially up to 1,000 potential victims

Grant Robicheaux, 38, and Cerissa Riley, 31, face charges in two incidents including rape by use of drugs, oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance, assault with intent to commit sexual offense, possession of a controlled substance for sale.

There may be up to 1,000 women targeted by the pair based on photos from the suspects' phones, KABC reported, citing prosecutors in the case.

The first incident happened in April 2016 at Robicheaux’s Newport Beach apartment, according to Orange County Deputy District Attorney Michael Carroll.

Robicheaux and Riley met a woman at a restaurant and later invited her to a party, then took her to the apartment after she was intoxicated, Carroll said. The pair provided multiple drugs to the 32-year-old victim then raped and orally copulated with her while she was prevented from resisting, the prosecutor said. The woman contacted Newport Beach Police the next day and tested positive for multiple controlled substances.

In the second case, Robicheaux and Riley drank alcohol with a woman at a Newport Beach bar until she was unconscious, said Carroll. The suspects took the woman to Robicheaux’s apartment and sexually assaulted her, but she woke up and screamed for help, according to investigators. Neighbors called Newport Beach Police.

Officers also said they found large quantities of illegal drugs in Robicheaux’s apartment during a search last January. Robicheaux is also accused of owning two illegal, unregistered assault rifles, four other weapons, and several large capacity magazines.

Prosecutors believe the pair may have traveled together to various festivals and locations since 2015 including Burning Man in Nevada, Dirtybird Campout Festival in Silverado, Nevada, Splash House in Palm Springs, and landmarks near Page, Arizona.

Robicheaux appeared on the Bravo television show “Online Dating Rituals of the American Male”. A description of his episode read, “Grant, a 33-year-old orthopedic surgeon, has a plan: to find the perfect woman, have a fantasy wedding and raise the All-American family. With guidance from his roommate, Grant turns to online dating to find the woman of his dreams.”

Robicheaux is an orthopedic surgeon who attended medical school in New Orleans and completed his residency in Irvine, according to zocdoc.com. He worked out of offices in Orange, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Long Beach.

Investigators believe there may be more potential victims in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Supervising Investigator Eric Wiseman at 714-347-8794.

A surgeon in California and a woman believed to be his girlfriend are accused of drugging and assaulting at least two women.

Grant William Robicheaux, 38, and Cerissa Laura Riley, 31, are charged with sexually assaulting two women by using drugs, ABC7 reported. They are accused of drugging women after meeting them at bars before bringing them back to Robicheauxs apartment and assaulting them.

Robicheaux and Riley are two “clean-cut, good-looking people, and they used their looks to prey on their victims, Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said.

Robicheaux, who also appeared on the Bravo reality TV show Online Dating Rituals of the American Male, was also charged with possession of an assault weapon, KTLA reported.

In April 2016, officials said the pair met a 32-year-old woman at a Newport Beach restaurant and invited her to a boat party, but they took her to Robicheauxs apartment once she was intoxicated before assaulting her. The victim contacted Newport Beach police and tested positive for several drugs, KTLA reported.

The defendants are accused of supplying multiple drugs to the victim then raping and orally copulating her while she was prevented from resisting due to intoxicating and controlled substances and they should have reasonably known of her condition, according to a press release from the Orange County District Attorney’s office.

Another victim who was drunk was taken back to Robicheauxs apartment, where she was sexually assaulted. The victim woke up, according to officials, and screamed before a police officer responded.

The two victims named in the case were not patients of Robicheaux. However, police are investigating whether he assaulted his patients.

Officials discovered hundreds of videos that appear to show more victims. Rackauckas said the women are “highly intoxicated beyond the ability to consent or resist, and they’re barely responsive to the defendant’s sexual advances, KTLA reported.

“Based on this evidence, we believe that there might be many unidentified victims out there,” Rackauckas said.

Robicheaux and Riley also have traveled to a number of music and art festivals, including Burning Man and the Splash House Festival, according to authorities.

The defendants may have traveled together to various festivals and locations since 2015 including Burning Man in Black Rock Desert, Nevada, Dirtybird Campout festival in Silverado, Splash House festival in Palm Springs, and landmarks near Page, Arizona, the district attorneys office said in a news release.

If convicted, Robicheaux faces 40 years in prison while Riley faces 30 years and eight months, officials added.

“Robicheaux is also accused of possessing two illegal, unregistered assault rifles, four other firearms, and several large capacity magazines,” the release stated, adding that “Robicheaux and Riley are accused of possessing large quantities of illegal drugs which were recovered in Robicheauxs residence.”

The couple was arrested on Sept. 12 after charges were filed on Sept. 11, according to the district attorney’s office.

Those with information are urged to call Supervising Investigator Eric Wiseman at 714-347-8794, the district attorneys office said.
