Since March, Karem has been deputy assistant to the president and director of Oval Office operations. He is known as the presidents “body guy,” a personal aide who is the first White House official to see Trump in the morning and last to see him at night, tasked with keeping him on schedule and briefing him on upcoming meetings and events.

After running a campaign widely decried as driven by xenophobia and racism, Trump was endorsed by the Ku Klux Klans official newspaper shortly before Election Day in 2016. Trump was also praised by far-right leaders after he blamed “many sides” for deadly violence at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, last summer.

Nicholas Luna, the White House trip director, is the likely successor to Karem, the White House officials said.

The report found that 92 out of 263 incidents of domestic terrorism between 2010 and the end of 2017 were committed by right-wing attackers, constituting a third of all incidents. Meanwhile, Islamist terrorists committed 38 attacks while left-wing attackers were responsible for 34 incidents.

Jordan Karem is great guy who I have gotten to know well over the last several years,” Trump said in a statement in response to queries about Karem. “He was with me from the beginning and I appreciate his loyalty and his commitment to my administration. He did an excellent job working with me and my team.”

It adds that though data shows a “decades-long drop-off in violence by left-wing groups, violence by white supremacists and other far-right attackers has been on the rise since Barack Obamas presidency — and has surged since President Trump took office.”

(CNN)President Donald Trump spent the past five days at the self-dubbed “Southern White House” at his Mar-a-Lago resort. How did he spend his time? Well, he played golf Wednesday and Thursday. And Friday, Saturday and Sunday too.

The analysis matches with other recent reports on extremism in the US, which consistently point to far right groups as the greatest threat in that regard. Correspondingly, FBI data released earlier this month showed hate crimes rose 17% in 2017.
